• Eleven regulatory bodies around the world have assessed the science on BPA and have determined that BPA is safe for use in food contact materials.
• A consumer would have to ingest more than 500 pounds of food and beverages in contact with polycarbonate plastic each day to exceed the Tolerable Daily Intake amount recently set by the European Food Safety Authority based on all available science on BPA.
• Epoxy resins are used as protective coatings in most metal food and beverage containers to help prevent corrosion and contamination, avoid food spoilage and provide a shelf life of two years or more. Although there are many different coating formulations, most depend on epoxy resins to make the formulation effective.
